It’s been a rainy do-nothing kinda day. My little prince and I met up with my sister and her hubby for breakfast. Afterwards as we drove around in the rain looking for an indoor playground nearby, he piped up from the back seat:
G: “Momma!!!” “I don’t know who to marry with, so I’ll just stay with you & Dada!”
Me: “Ohhhh wow…ummm…that’s so sweet, my love. What made you think about getting married?”
G: “I just want to talk about it. When can I get married?”
Me: “Hmm……….welllll, when you’re much older (like 50!! ) and maybe after you go to college, work hard and do something you love. We’ll see how it all happens. But, what do you want to be when you get older Gabriel?”
G: “I want to play for the rest of my life.”
Me: “Oh!!!! Okayyyyy. Wellllll……that’s going to make Dada and me verrrry happy!!”
G: “Actually I want to be a construction worker. Will you be a with me Momma, and be my Boss?”

About two months ago, he had a different profession in mind and said he wanted to be a Knight. The conversation went like this:
G: “Momma, I want to be a knight when I grow up!”
Me: “You do uh? Ummm…do you know what a knight is?”
G: “Yep! They wear steel clothes and a steel armor and a mask. They rescue people and they don’t sleep at night.”
Here’s another one of our riveting chats!!
G: “Mommy, one of the kids at the playground told me she’s a big 4 and I’m a small 4. But I don’t care.”
Me: “Oh yeah? Well, that’s ok Gabriel. You’re absolutely perfect in every way. So you don’t care uh? That’s awesome. But how come?”
G: “They don’t know who I am.”
Me: “Yeah? Well, who are you?”
G: “Gabriel!!!!!!!!!!!” (Like “DUHHH” Mom!!! )
And one more…
G: “Mommy when can I go to the (recording) studio? Will I have lights when I sing? I want color lights. Lots of color!”
That would describe him best. “Lots of color!!” LOL! I wouldn’t want it any other way! I cherish these conversations and try to gather them all up and store them in my heart and on my iPhone.
Any parents with littles want to share your favorite chats? Or do any of you teachers, aunties/uncles, grandparents, or those who now have grown children, have a favorite chat with a wee one you’d like to share? Include them in the comments below. I love hearing from you!
Kids grow at supersonic speed and I really want to slow down the time. God willing, my little prince will one day get married and I hope I’ve taught him how to be compassionate, strong and fearless. My future daughter-in-law will be happy, she’ll be getting a “knight!!!”
But I gotta run now…Gabriel wants to pretend he’s a Detective!!
We’re all in this together.
Much Love!
